One town we pass through got its name from the aboriginal word meaning “rough ground” but these days the farmers and riders call it Nowendoc.

Before we drop down into our lunch spot we will check it out from above perched up on a lookout, it’s crazy to think that back in the gold rush days there was a pub here and the circus used to come here each year!

Lunchbreak:

Will be catered by Endeavour within a history filled gold mining town from the 1800’s

(included in all packages)

PM:

Once you have fuelled and fed the beasts mount up and we’ve got even more adventure riding gold for you. We are literally going to ride through a semi abandoned gold mining town and even check out and old mining site sitting right next to the road. BOOM, a huge lookout overlooking where we have just spent the night and on the flipside where we are heading before until lunchtime. From this lookout we are heading straight into a fully functional sheep and cattle station which has been referred to as one of the best routes of all of our tours! Once we have finished with sheep and cattle country we heading deep into first explorer country, that is of John Oxley. Though he isn’t the only early European to put this area on the map, bushranger Captain Thunderbolt frequently haunted this nick of the woods.

Lunchbreak:

Will be catered by ENDEAVOUR in the heart of Thunderbolt country, speaking of haunted before…. This is where he was shot and buried.

PM:

Straight from lunch we are off to a beautiful remote chapel and a world class gorge plus a giant waterfall. As a contrast from looking down into a gorge we must start looking up as we head further north into the hills heading for our accommodation in one of Australia’s highest towns which is perched up over 1300 metres above sea level. This town even has an extinct volcano crater as a ducks lagoon!
